If you keep rebuilding the same header, footer, or product block in every email, using Modules will save you time. Modules are reusable containers, structures, or stripes that can be dropped into any email, so you don't rebuild the same block twice.
When to use?
Save a block as a Module when you use the same header or footer across a campaign, when your team needs one approved version of a block, or when you're building a design system and want the pieces to stay consistent.
All your modules are in the Modules tab on the side panel. From there, you can view, edit, filter, sort, share, and delete your modules in one place.
Start from a ready-made module:
Stripo has two libraries of pre-built modules you can drag in and re-content:
Template modules, designed to match a specific template's style. They appear only in emails from a Stripo pre-built template.
General modules, available in any email, including some with Smart Elements or AMP elements already configured.
Use the type filter and the search field to narrow either library.
Important note:
Some elements render differently depending on the email you drop them into, since they inherit that email's styles.
How to save a block as a module?
1. In the editor, hover over the block you want to save — a stripe, structure, or container.
2. Click Save as module.
3. Enter a name. Pick something your team will recognize later.
4. Add a description. It's optional, and it tells you what's inside without opening the module. 5. Choose a category so the module is easy to find.
6. Turn on Keep module styles to keep the module's original appearance everywhere you reuse it. Leave this off, and the module automatically adapts to match the styles of each new email you add it to.
7. Turn on Synchronization (we will tell you in more detail about this later) to push future edits to every email that uses this module.
8. Add one or more tags to group related modules together, then click Save.
Important note:
If you see the 'Can't save a module' error, the block uses a custom font with a URL longer than 300 characters. Shorten the font URL, then save again.
To reuse modules, just open any email in the same project. In the left-side panel, open the Modules tab and drag the module onto the template.
Tip:
Modules also have a Module content width setting. It lets you set a module's settings to size the module independently of the email it was built in. This is useful when you export a module to an ESP editor that uses a different email width than Stripo.
Build a module from scratch:
You can also create a module without an existing email:
1. In the Modules tab, click New Module on the top panel.
3. Design the module, then click Save.
Set up a Synchronized Module:
Synchronized Modules let you change a design element or contact detail once and apply it everywhere, instead of editing each template by hand.
Follow the steps in How to save a block as a module, and turn on Synchronization at step 7. Every time you add this module to an email afterward, it starts with Sync ON.
To update a synchronized module, edit it directly in a template, then click Update Module. The change is saved to the library and automatically applied to every template that uses this module.
If you edit the module but don't click Update Module, its status switches to Sync OFF. You'll then be prompted to choose one of three options:
Save Changes to the module. Your edit is saved to the library and applied everywhere the module is used.
Revert Changes. Your local edit is discarded, and the module returns to its synced version.
Unlink and Apply Changes Locally. Your edit applies only to this email, and the link to the library breaks.
Synchronize a module when the content should not be changed between campaigns — legal footers, brand headers, contact details.
If you'd rather prevent a module from being edited at all, use Lock Element instead of, or alongside, synchronization. You can lock a module completely, or lock just its content or just its styles, so it stays untouched no matter who opens the template.
What else can you do with Modules?
Organize your library: switch to grid, small grid, or list view, sort, search, filter by category or tag, and edit tags for multiple modules at once.
Manage a saved module: rename, export, duplicate, open in a new tab, update, or replace the preview image from the module's context menu.
Share across projects: copy or share modules between projects on the Medium, Pro, or Prime plan.
Export to HTML: export a module as an HTML file, an HTML archive, or raw HTML code.
