What is the Version History? How to use it?

This article shows how to work with savings and restore your email template copy.

You probably know that any change in your template is autosaved. If you need to find an earlier version of your current email template, you can use the "Version History" option and restore it.

You can see all the changes you’ve made using the "Version History" button located on the top panel.

Just click it to open a drop-down list with all changes:


And you will be able to restore any suitable version:

You can also enable the Show Changes toggle, the editor will highlight what changed in the selected version, as on the screenshot above.

Restore a version as a new email template:

You can also restore any version as a separate new email message/template.

To do this:

  • Open Version History;

  • Click the three dots menu next to the required version;

  • Select Restore as new.

The selected version will be saved as a new template/email, while the current version will remain unchanged.

How to use Version History without the "Autosave" feature?

If you don't want every edit to be saved automatically to Version History, simply turn off the Autosave Feature in Group Settings.

This way, edits are saved only when you click the Save button in a template/email.

Please follow the navigation:

  • Switch to the "Settings" tab β†’ "Workspace" β†’ "Workspace Configuration" β†’ "Collaboration";

  • And toggle off the "Autosave feature" control as mentioned in this example.

What about limits on using the "Version History" option?

  • With the FREE plan, you get 30 days to keep a history of changes to your email messages and templates;

  • With the BASIC plan, you get 60 days of version history;

  • With the MEDIUM plan, you get 90 days of version history;

  • With the PRO and PRIME plans, you get 365 days of version history.
