What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) - is an extra layer of security used to make sure that people trying to gain access to an online account are who they say they are. Upon entering their username and password, users will be prompted to provide additional information before gaining access.

With Stripo, you can enable 2FA or Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to protect your account against many security threats that target user passwords and accounts, such as phishing, brute-force attacks, credential exploitation and more.

How to turn on two-factor authentication for your Stripo account?

  • Proceed to the "Profile""Two-factor authentication" menu;

  • Once redirected, you will have the option to choose one or both of the available identification methods:

    • Authentication app;

    • Email message.

Authentication app:

With this method, you will need to enter a one-time code from an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo.

To activate this method, you should:

- Download a two-factor authenticator app on your mobile device from the Google Store or App Store;

- Open the app and scan the QR code, or enter the code manually;

- Press the "Next" button;

- Enter the 6-digit code from the authenticator app to complete the setup.

Now, your account is protected with two-factor authentication. In order to log in, you will have to provide a 6-digit code uniquely generated for you by the authenticator app.

Important to mention:

When you set up 2FA, it doesn't mean you have to enter a code every time you log in. Our integration is designed to be "smart". This means that if a user confirms their login on their computer using a code, the next time the system analyzes how much we can trust this device, the IP address and a bunch of other parameters in order to decide whether to require two-factor authentication at the next login.

Save a backup code in a safe place in case you lose access to the authenticator app or your mobile phone.

With 2FA enabled for your account, you’ll need these backup codes if you ever lose your device. Without your device or a backup code, you’ll have to contact the Stripo support team.

The "Print" and "Download PDF" options are available.

Email message identification:

With this method, you will need to enter a one-time code sent via email message.

To activate this method, you should:

- Click the "Send a message" button to get a verification code via email.

The email address in the field is associated with your Stripo registration email;

- Enter a 6-digit code from your email message to complete the setup.

Now, your account is protected with two-factor authentication. In order to log in, you will have to provide a 6-digit code uniquely sent for you via email message.

Make sure to save a backup code in a secure location in case you lose access to your mailbox.

How to use multiple two-factor authentication methods?

When you set up both authentications, you can use the "authenticator app" as a primary method and the "email message" as a backup method.

How to disable two-factor authentication?

  • Go to the "Profile" menu;

  • Scroll to the "Two-factor authentication" tab;

  • Disable two-factor authentication by clicking on the switch;

  • Confirm that you want to disable the authentication by clicking "Turn Off" disable it.

What if I lose access to my authenticator app or mailbox?

If you lose access to the authenticator app or your mailbox, you can always use the backup codes provided when you’ve set up the authentication for the first time.
