AMP for email allows senders to include AMP components inside rich, engaging emails, making modern app functionality available within an email. The AMP email format provides a subset of AMPHTML components for use in email messages, allowing recipients of AMP emails to interact dynamically with content directly in the message.
Emails written with AMP can contain interactive elements such as: an image carousel or accordions, real-time content, the type of content that is always up-to-date/updated in the email when the email is opened, or gamification.
Let's take a closer look at the accordion block:)
The Accordion block allows you to open/hide some pieces of the content when being clicked on. This element enables saving space and does not distract the customer with the information they may not need.
How to build an AMP accordion with Stripo:
Enter your email template and drag the "Accordion" block into it;
In the "Settings" tab, you will be able to:
Add the needed number of sections to the accordion (you can add any block);
Give all sections' names. You can enter up to 500 characters;
Adjust the padding between sections for optimal spacing using the "Set Gap Between Sections" option;
Enable the "Auto-collapsing accordion" option. It allows you to show one section at a time. When you open any other section, the previously opened one is closed;
If you'd like a specific section to be expanded by default, toggle the "Expanded" option so subscribers can see the content right away;
By default, the "Animated opening" option is enabled to provide a smooth transition effect when opening and closing sections, but you can toggle it off if you prefer static opening and closing;
Switch to the "Styles" tab to customize the visual appearance of the accordion:
Adjust the font of the section titles, including font size, color, and text style;
Modify the alignment of the titles and apply a background color to them for added emphasis;
You can also add an icon to the title of each section to enhance its appearance;
Customize the border color and style for each section to align with your design.
Important to note: now you are working on the accordion’s section design.
In other words, this is what customers see when the accordion is not expanded.
How to test AMP emails?
You can test it in your Gmail box when you send the test from Stripo
You should go into your mailbox settings in Gmail and turn on the option to receive dynamic content
In developer settings below, you need to specify our sender box as trusted- info@stripo-test.email
Please delete all the test emails (for that current email, if you tested it before) that you sent earlier and send the test again.
After all these steps you will be able to test displaying of your AMP emails
After you've tested the emails and made sure it's ready to send, let's look at the option export AMP emails:
How to export AMP emails?
Please be advised, that not all possible email services and clients support AMP-functionality.
Here is an official Google page https://amp.dev/support/faq/email-support/.
Here you can check which email support services send AMP emails and which email providers have AMP support content.
Currently, this is the list of ESPs that do support sending of AMP-emails:
In order to export a finished AMP email, please click on the Export button in the Stripo editor, choose "AMP support", and you will be able to export directly the AMP email to your ESP.
If you see that your ESP is not listed, but it supports AMP technology, then you should export the email as AMP HTML — this export method saves the scripts that are appropriate for the MIME-type. Import this file into the ESP that supports Google AMP for emails.
Please be informed, only 4 email clients (GMAIL, YAHOO, MAIL.RU, FAIREMAIL) support displaying AMP-content as recipients.
Getting Whitelisted with Google and Yahoo:
If you want to make your own sending your mail should be white-listed in the Google/Yahoo service, so now I will tell you how to do it in just few steps.
To get whitelisted with Gmail and Yahoo, you need to:
authenticate your emails using SPF and DKIM;
check destination of XHR;
make sure the DKIM signature matches the domain of your sender address;
have a permanent history of mass mailings;
send an AMP email to ampforemail.whitelisting@gmail.com (Google) and ampverification@yahoo.com (Yahoo);
fill out the Sender Registration Form.
This form is designed for both mail services that support AMP.
After submitting the registration form, you will see the following notification:
You will not receive any other notification from Google or Yahoo until you are whitelisted.
